The mark corresponds to which company made the raw aluminum forging that later became the upper receiver. So is the 'M' something added by the company who marketed the upper? Keep in mind that a shop may machine the base forgings and put their own designs on them but the base forged receiver may have been supplied by one of the forging companies listed below.
